Elevation Burger Brings Beef, Jobs To Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - There is a new brand of burger in Yonkers.

Elevation Burger, which holds the claim as the nation’s first USDA-certified organic hamburger chain, recently opened up shop in Westchester's Ridge Hill.

The location is the burger joint’s second in the county, following the steps of a Rye Brook restaurant that was up and running last year.

“The outpouring of community support that we received at our Rye Brook location was overwhelming and paved the way for the successful opening at Ridge Hill,” franchise owner and Rye resident Daniel Magnus said in a statement.

The 2,500 square foot location features one-of-a-kind organic beef patties, milkshakes made with hormone free milk and olive oil cooked French fries. Magnus says the combination makes Elevation Burger’s Menu the healthiest in the burger market.

“Our name includes the word ‘Elevation’ because we elevate our food, our guest experience, and our restaurants to a level that exceeds other hamburger establishments,” he said.

Critics say the food is pretty tasty as well.  Upon its New York debut in January 2011, Elevation Burger was named by Zagat as one of New York’s “Four Notable New Patties.”

Elevation Burger has also been the recipient of numerous “Best Of” taste awards and featured in a number of publications including AOL, The Food Channel, and ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.

Still, Elevation Burger isn’t just offering Westchester another food option, Magnus said. When the chain opened in Yonkers late this summer, it created 38 jobs, he said.

And there may be more jobs to be had in Westchester shortly.

Magnus, who owns the restaurant’s franchise rights for Westchester and Fairfield County in Connecticut, said he expects to open 10 additional locations in the two counties, filling approximately 300 jobs in the process.

Magnus told The Rye Daily Voice in January that he was taken aback by the support from the area.

"The towns have really embraced us," he said. "In my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined how successful we've been."
