Business Council Of Westchester Honors Success Of Yonkers' Mindspark

YONKERS, N.Y. -- In just over 16-years Yonkers-based Mindspark has blossomed into one of the leading technology companies in the United States with its array of browser and mobile applications and desktop utilities.

That's why Mindspark's CEO, Tim Allen, will be honored by The Business Council of Westchester on Tuesday, April 21, at its Hall of Fame Awards at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle. Allen will accept the Entrepreneurial Success Award for Mindspark. Tickets are available through The Business Council of Westchester website.

Conceived in 1999, Mindspark has evolved from a simple toolbar company to growing successful businesses in browser applications, desktop utilities and mobile markets. Its three global divisions innovate and produce a diverse and expanding portfolio of products and experiences from customized homepages to award winning utilities and apps.

Mindspark's diverse portfolio includes more than 80 products and its brand provides content and experiences for a wide range of web users.

Mobile apps include Emoji keypad, Speak & Translate and Weather Live. Browser applications developed by Mindspark include Television Fanatic, Gaming Wonderland and MapsGalaxy. Its assortment of desktop utilities also helps improve computer performance.

In 2013, Mindspark moved its corporate headquarters to the heart of the Yonkers Waterfront District. The move provided a new base of operations for staff and also supports the company's continuing, robust growth. The company, and Allen, are now prominently featured as part of the city’s Generation Yonkers marketing and advertising campaign that is widely recognizable throughout the Tri-State area.

The other Hall of Fame honorees are:

  • Corporate Citizenship: New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Robert Amler, vice president for government affairs and professor of public health, will accept the award.
  • Small Business Success: York International Agency, LLC in Harrison. Robert Kestenbaum, CEO, to accept the award.
  • Women in Business Success: Rella Fogliano, president of MacQuesten Development Companies in Pelham. Fogliano to accept the award.
  • Family Owned Business: American Christmas in Mount Vernon. Fred Schwam, CEO, to accept the award.
  • Chairman’s Recognition Award: Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville. William Flooks Jr., funeral director, to accept award.
